Boston Design at it's Finest :: Heading Home to Dinner Fundraiser
Three years ago Mally Skok, Kristen Rivoli and Elizabeth Benedict (three interior designers in Boston) decided to launch an event to raise money for Heading Home, a charity dedicated to ending homelessness in the greater Boston area. I didn’t know any of them well…in fact they probably couldn’t have picked me out of a lineup. All I knew was that I wanted to be around women like them.
Needless to say, their “little idea” has exploded into one of the premier events during Design Week in Boston every year. For a community that primarily works independently, it’s rare when we have the opportunity to join together, support one another and champion an effort by locking elbows.
My table theme was inspired by this blog concept actually. Months ago (when our submissions for table designs were due) I made my best attempt at what this Mind. Body. Soul. Home. concept really LOOKED like. What were the tangible elements I could put my finger on that really exemplified this idea swirling around in my head. While this idea continues to take shape I couldn’t be prouder of not only the way the table came together but also how the message was received. Thank you to everyone who offered an approving nod on this one. It was just the juice I need to keep moving forward with this little idea.

A heartfelt thank you everyone who participated. From the guests that hosted each seat to the makers who gifted, donated or lent us your beautifully perfect items to make this vision a reality. Your generosity played a part in us raising over $100,000 for the homeless community of our city. Women and children who need our help to stay warm while having a sense of place to call their own. We all need a place to recharge. A quiet, peaceful, safe, warm, home. I’m overcome by my pride in having played a small part in this effort. Thank you all for joining me!
